Jimmy Kimmel Discusses The ‘Subtle Racism’ Happening During Justice Nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Confirmation Hearing

Tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live! President Joe Biden’s supreme court justice nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson was the topic of discussion. The candidate attended a confirmation hearing today but Kimmel highlights how racist some members of congress can be.

“These hearings they give a number of our Republican senators a chance to compete in one of their favorite events: the subtle racism jamboree.”

At the hearing senator, Lindsey Graham stepped out ahead of the proceedings and rambled off a bunch of talking points, one including comparison of Justice Kavanaugh to Bill Cosby. Graham also mentioned that Brown will not receive the same type of  interrogation that Kavanaugh did, but Kimmel disagrees that nothing should be different.

“I think they should treat Ketanji Brown Jackson exactly the same way they treated Kavanaugh, by interviewing every single person who accused her of sexual assault. Don’t stop – even though there are none – do not stop.”

Jackson would be the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States, and she doesn’t need any Republican votes to be confirmed. The host comments that this is the Republican party’s worst nightmare because Vice President Kamala Harris is the tiebreaker.

“That would be the GOP’s ultimate nightmare–having this decided by two Black women whose names they can’t pronounce.”
