Blood Orange musician Devonté Hynes has joined the creative team of Job. He will compose original music for the play, which set to open at Broadway’s Hayes Theater in July.

“Anyone familiar with Dev’s work already knows what a naturally brilliant storyteller he is, so it’s no surprise that his work on Job not only enriches the thematic and narrative threads but also deepens the emotional resonance of the play,” one of the show’s producers, Hannah Getts, said in a press statement. “We are thrilled to integrate his innovative musical vision into the fabric of Job.”

Max Wolf Friedlich wrote Job, and Michael Herwitz is the play’s director. It stars Peter Friedman and Sydney Lemmon. Job premiered premiered Off Broadway in 2023, and the new Broadway performances begin on July 15. The show formally opens on July 30 and will run for a limited engagement through September 29.

Hynes released his most recent Blood Orange studio album, Negro Swan, in 2018.
