‘House Of David’ Biblical Drama At Amazon Adds Iraqi-American Actor Alexander Uloom

EXCLUSIVE: Iraqi-American actor Alexander Uloom has been cast in an undisclosed but key role in Prime Video’s biblical drama House Of David, which is shooting on location in Greece.

The series, which heralds from The Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios, will tell the story of the ascent of biblical icon, David, who eventually becomes the most famous king of Israel.

Recently announced cast for the drama includes Michael Iskander as David, Ali Suliman, Ayelet Zurer, Stephen Lang, Martyn Ford, Indy Lewis, Yali Topol Margalith, Ethan Kai, Oded Fehr, Louis Ferreira, Davood Ghadami and Ashraf Barhom.

House of David is based on an idea by Jon Erwin. Erwin, Jonathan Walker, Jon Gunn, Justin Rosenblatt, Chad Oakes, and Mike Frislev are executive producers. Dallas Jenkins, the creator and producer-director of The Chosen, is a key shareholder and special advisor to The Wonder Project. House of David is produced by Nomadic Pictures and Argonauts, along with Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate Television.

The series will mark an English-language debut for Uloom, who grew up in the States as a refugee of the First Gulf War, and is known for multiple popular Middle East series including Heera for MBC Drama Television, soccer drama Qusa (The Story), which aired on UTV Iraq, and Satir Al Gharbi (Western Lion) for the Al Rasheed TV network.

The actor, who has won Best Actor at the Iraq Awards and is a three time winner of Entertainment Tonight Arabia’s People’s Choice award, is a former military contractor and translator for the U.S. Marines. He has a company with Iranian American writer-producer-director Evan Mirzai, founder of management firm House of M, which reps the actor. The pair are developing an America-set Middle East-themed series called Babylon, Texas as well as an action-sports feature called Super Bowl Sunday. Both are starring vehicles for Uloom who is also beginning to develop his own producing slate.

Uloom, Mirzai and House of M are represented by Mark Muir of Greenberg Glusker.
